The number of people with respiratory infections in our country has fallen again and is now at a low level. Because the pressure on the healthcare system is well under control, it has been decided to scale down the threat level from code yellow to green. The Federal Public Health Service reported this on Thursday.

At the end of February, the number of respiratory infections was scaled down from code orange to yellow, but in recent weeks the number of respiratory infections has fallen further. The Risk Management Group therefore decided to switch further to code green and conclude the ‘Winter Plan’ for this year.

“However, it remains possible to contract a respiratory infection,” the FPS said in a statement. Therefore, basic recommendations continue to apply to protect the most vulnerable people, especially those who are ill. These include washing hands, coughing and sneezing into a disposable tissue or into your elbow, staying home if you are sick or wearing a mask as long as you show symptoms.

The color code system is still relatively new and is based on experiences during the corona pandemic. Each color code is accompanied by specific recommendations.
