On the morning of January 16, the fifth meeting of the fifth Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC was grandly opened in the Municipal People’s Auditorium.
Chen Miner, Hu Henghua, Zhang Xuan, Wu Cunrong, Zhang Ming, Li Jing, Mo Gongming, Peng Jinhui, Li Mingqing, Duan Chenggang, Gao Buming and others took their seats on the rostrum and congratulated the convening of the conference.
The executive chairmen of the conference, Wang Jiong, Song Airong, Chen Guiyun, Wu Gang, Tan Jialing, Zhang Ling, Qu Qian, Xu Daiyin, Wang Xinqiang, Zhou Yong, and Qin Min took their seats in the front row of the rostrum. The opening ceremony was presided over by Song Airong.
The fifth session of the fifth session of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference should have 861 members, and 740 people attended the meeting on-site. Another 41 members of the Hong Kong and Macao Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference attended the meeting online simultaneously, which met the specified number.

The conference adopted the agenda of the fifth meeting of the fifth CPPCC Chongqing Committee.
On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Fifth CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee, Wang Jiong made a work report to the conference.
Wang Jiong reviewed the work of the CPPCC Standing Committee in the past year. He said that 2021 is a milestone year in the history of the party and the country, achieving the first centenary goal, starting a new journey towards the second centenary goal, building a new development pattern, taking new steps, and achieving high-quality development. New achievements have been made and a good start in the “14th Five-Year Plan” has been achieved. Under the strong leadership of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference has deeply studied and applied Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, deeply understood the decisive significance of the “Two Establishments”, strengthened the “Four Consciousness”, strengthened the “Four Self-confidence”, and achieved “Two safeguards” fulfilled the political commitment of the municipal party committee’s “three guarantees”, adhered to the two major themes of unity and democracy, performed duties and responsibilities around the city center, and contributed the wisdom and strength of the CPPCC to the full implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s entrustment.
Wang Jiong pointed out that over the past year, the Standing Committee of the CPPCC took the opportunity of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China to guide all parties, groups and people from all ethnic groups participating in the CPPCC to improve their political positions, strengthen the party’s innovative theoretical arm, and implement the party’s comprehensive Leaders, consolidate the common ideological and political foundation, and gather together the majestic forces for the new journey; strive to give full play to the role of specialized consultative institutions, identify the entry point for performance of duties, enhance the effectiveness of consultation, deliberation and supervision, and serve the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the “Fourteenth” 5. Wang Jiong pointed out that in 2022, the Communist Party of China will hold the 20th National Congress, and our city will hold the 6th Party Congress. Under the strong leadership of the Municipal Party Committee, and guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the CPPCC should fully implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 19th Plenary Sessions, and fully implement the important speech and series of important instructions given by the General Secretary to Chongqing. The spirit of instructions is the primary political responsibility, in accordance with the deployment requirements of the Municipal Party Committee, closely follow the tasks of the entire city center, perform the functions of political consultation, democratic supervision, participation in and deliberation of state affairs, better build consensus, implement the decisions and arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the requirements of the Municipal Party Committee, and combine wisdom and wisdom from all aspects. The strengths are united to make positive contributions to the CPPCC to maintain a stable and healthy economic environment, a clean political environment, a social environment of national peace and security, and to create a good atmosphere for the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Qu Qian made a report on the proposal work on behalf of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC. Since the fourth session of the fifth session of the CPPCC, members of the CPPCC, participating units and special committees of the CPPCC have closely followed the important speech made by the general secretary to Chongqing and the spirit of a series of important instructions, focusing on the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, science and technology For key tasks such as innovation, ecological civilization construction, people’s livelihood, and normalized epidemic prevention and control, a total of 1,501 proposals were submitted, 1,307 of which were reviewed and filed, and 1,085 were assigned after the case was completed. To promote the government’s scientific and democratic decision-making, sustainable and healthy economic development, and improve the level of social governance, policy measures and people-benefiting results.
The leaders of the Municipal Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress, and the municipal government were invited to attend the meeting, the main leaders of the military-level units of the Chongqing-based troops, and the main responsible comrades of some municipal-level democratic parties and relevant people’s organizations. The meeting also invited members of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference in Chongqing, responsible comrades of relevant municipal departments, newly appointed ministers of the United Front Work Department of districts and counties, some presidents of non-local chambers of commerce in Chongqing, some non-public economic people, and representatives of new social classes. Representatives and representatives of Chongqing European and American Alumni Association attended the conference as non-voting delegates.
