The Qatari national team retained the Asian Football Cup title, after defeating its Jordanian counterpart 3-1, in the final match held at Lusail Stadium, which witnessed the award of three penalty kicks for the host country.
Afif (22, 73, 90 + 5 from three penalty kicks) scored Qatar’s goals, and Yazan Al-Naimat (68) scored Jordan’s goal.
Al Annabi won the UAE edition in 2019 by defeating Japan 3-1 as well.
The Qatar national team also maintained its record undefeated in 14 consecutive matches (13 wins and one draw in which the result was decided on penalties).
