A teenager was arrested this Thursday on a beach in the state of Florida (USA) for pulling out a firearm during a fight and running with it in front of bathers, North American media report.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were patrolling an area of ​​New Smyrna Beach near Flagler Avenue around 3:45 p.m. when they heard people yelling “He’s got a gun!”

The incident was recorded by the body camera of one of the police officers. Solís-Guzmán threw the firearm and a backpack into the sea and surrendered to the authorities. The agents found the objects in the water and discovered 20 plastic bags full of marijuana in the backpack.

The quick action of the sheriff’s deputies, who arrived at the scene armed and ready to control the situation, was recorded on a body camera video. “They observed a young offender pointing a gun at another person,” Sheriff Mike Chitwood told WKMG. Solis-Guzman, upon noticing the police presence, fled along the seashore without giving up his weapon, Chitwood added.

The young man now faces charges of possession of a firearm by a minor, improper display of a firearm, resisting a law enforcement officer, sale of marijuana, commission of a second-degree felony with a weapon, two counts of tampering with evidence and three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

«He will now face adult charges and serious consequences for his reckless actions. “We welcome students on spring break as long as they behave,” he added.

In addition, the teenager has seven active, no-bail arrest warrants out of Orange County, including armed robbery and violation of probation, agents said.
