Sparta’s interest in the midfielder, who helped eliminate them in the preliminary round of the Conference League the year before, was already in the first half of December.
“The clubs have been negotiating for several weeks and Solbakken visited the Prague club before Christmas. Now Viking is close to selling him to Sparta,” writes Norwegian newspaper Nettavisen.
“Now the clubs still have to agree. Solbakken only has a medical test left and that is expected to happen in the next few days,” Nettavisen is informed.
The 25-year-old Solbakken joined Viking in February 2022. In July of the same year, he took part in the unexpected elimination of Sparta in the 2nd preliminary round of the Conference League. He made his debut in the Norwegian national team last September.
So far, the only winter reinforcement of the reigning Czech champion, who is at the head of the incomplete table after the autumn part of the first league, is striker Indrit Tuci. The 23-year-old Albanian transferred to Letná at the end of December from Lokomotiva Zagreb.
