The event ended with the announcement of the selection of the best Spanish video game in history, chosen by an expert jury from 50 nominees and more than 21,000 public votes.
The best Spanish game of all time according to the Jugando en Casa jury included titles such as “The Abbey of Crime” by Opera Soft, “Commando: Behind Enemy Lines” by Pyro Studios, and “Castlevania: Shadowlords” by MercurySteam.
The best Spanish game ever made by the public featured games like “Commando: Behind Enemy Lines” by Pyro Studios, “Blasphemy” by Game Kitchen, and “The Abbey of Crime” by Opera Soft.
Additionally, several Lifetime Achievement Awards were given out to studios and developers who made significant contributions to the Spanish gaming industry from 1979 to the present.
The event also featured moving speeches from senior developers, including a tribute to Paco Menéndez, one of the key figures behind Soft Opera and the Abadía del crimen game. Estefanía “Fany” Salcedo from Tequila Works received a heartfelt round of applause when she expressed her hope for more diversity and inclusion in future gaming releases.
Overall, the event was a nostalgic celebration of Spain’s gaming history and a reminder of the talented individuals who have shaped the industry over the years.
