Lara Gut-Behrami won the Large Globe and the Giant Globe. The 32-year-old Ticino took 10th place in the giant World Cup finals in Saalbach won by Federica Brignone. Michelle Gisin 14th and Camille Rast 15th.
And 2! Gut-Behrami bagged 2 new crystal globes to add to his collection. This is his 5th small globe after the 4 won in super-G. For the general, it is the 2nd after that of 2016. She will now try to glean those of the super-G and the downhill next weekend to conclude an almost perfect season.
The Ticino had room to win these two trophies. She could finish 15th to take the small globe and had to place at least 14th to secure the big one. Eighth in the first round, 1”67 behind Valdôtaine, the skier from Comano certainly didn’t try everything. She skied intelligently, not trying to strain her trajectories at all costs.
Not like Didier Cuche
But we remember Didier Cuche who in 2008 missed the super-G globe by only ranking 16th in Bormio, when a 14th place would have been enough for his happiness. Fortunately, none of that for the Ticino woman who did what was necessary. Victory went to Federica Brignone, ahead of Alice Robinson and Thea Louise Stjernesund.
Camille Rast did not deliver a great performance, but the Valaisanne still managed to score points by entering the top-15. La Vétrozaine finished 15th, just behind Michelle Gisin who also scored good points.
