Tony Hawk, the world skateboarding star, arrived at the Skate Park in the park on 4 Sur and in the Manila neighborhood, in commune 14 of Medellín, of whom different images have been shared on social networks, doing acrobatics, sharing with the community and with other local sports leaders.

According to Hawk on his social networks, he arrived in Medellín to receive medical treatment, however, he took advantage of his time in the city to share with other athletes such as David González, who was his guide through the parks where this activity is practiced. .

González also published on his social networks some of the moments he was with the American athlete “it was an honor to see Tony Hawk ride in Medellín. He still breaks it brutally, the best of all” noted the Antioquia athlete in his publication.

Hawk was born in San Diego, California, in 1968, and from an early age he stood out in the sport for which he would become known throughout the world. At 12 years old Hawk was already sponsored by Dogtown skateboards and at 16 he was considered one of the best in the world. By then he was part of the Bones Brigade team. One of the facts that has most characterized the athlete is his ability to create tricks like the 900° (2.5 turns in the air) that he performed during the 1999 X Games.

Medellín has several sports venues in which sports can be performed, including the Atanasio Girardot sports unit, the Manila bowl, the Castilla sports unit and the Puente de la 4 sur, among others.

Athletes such as Jazmín Álvarez also stand out in the city, who has established herself worldwide. Last year she was crowned champion in the women’s street category of the Grand Skate Tour Moscow 2023 and is now preparing for the Paris Olympics.
