TREVISO. The price of oil soars, the cost of gasoline returns to the highs of seven years ago. And the consumer’s wallet cries. But in the Marca there are still convenient distributors: at the Hyper Station in viale Europa, in Castelfranco, self-service petrol is 1.587 per liter and diesel at 1.414. Definitely a saving, considering that the latest surveys by the Ministry of ecological transition have shown an average price of green (in self mode) at 1.671 euros and of diesel at 1.517.
A surge accelerated by the jump in crude oil, which went from the low of $ 18 a barrel in March 2020 (when Italy was sinking into lockdown) to today’s 69.41. Thinking from a Treviso perspective, Adico’s monitoring certified, limited to the last 10 days, an increase of between 4 and 6% in the cost of petrol and diesel. A bloodletting that has not been seen since 2014 and that has prompted consumer associations, for the umpteenth time, to raise their voices against excise duties. But, fortunately, there are still gas station attendants who wink at the customer. Translate: white pumps.
To evaluate the price trend in the Brand, we leveraged portal of the Observatory of the Ministry of Economic Development. Thus, by analyzing the most populous centers of the province, it is clear that the consumers of Castelfranco are the most fortunate: said dell ‘Iper Station, the ideal ranking of the cheapest pumps places the Bc of via Castellana (petrol at 1.590, diesel at 1.418). In Mogliano, on the other hand, the consumer is less favored: the most “convenient” station is the trivengas of via Zermanesa, where, however, the green costs 1.659 per liter. Follows the Junior high school via Zermanesa: petrol at 1,669.
Parin’s (Gisc) advice: “Take a look at the prices but you have to drive well, use your car very little in the city”
Moreno Parin is the president of the Gisc group, a member of Confcommercio, for decades the protagonist of the battles of the managers of the fuel stations of the Brand, who did not hesitate to challenge the giants but also said no to strikes in the hardest moment of the lockdown. Its category has been back for months and months – an abundant year to be more precise – of a marked contraction in consumption.
Parin, but you can save money.
«In Treviso and its province more than anywhere else, prices are competitive with respect to the national average, and this is due to the effect of the“ white pumps ”(distributors not linked to large companies, ed.) Which is very significant in Veneto. In fact, the phenomenon was born here in Treviso, today they are almost 50% of all distributors. But it is not enough to look at the prices and choose the cheapest ones, because if one has to travel kilometers to reach the cheapest station, one “eats” the saving of fuel ».
In theory, given the differences, it could save 4, 5, maybe 6 euros per full.
“The advice is to rationalize travel as much as possible, and have a driving style that is as clean as possible”.
Didn’t the advice to avoid short trips apply only to diesel?
“Today it applies to almost everyone, regardless. Even if now hybrid and full electric vehicles have arrived ».
The feeling is that traffic has returned to pre-pandemic levels, perhaps even worse.
“The consumption figures say we are not yet. Of course, provocatively, those who really want to save money shouldn’t drive around the city, but only outside, and I shouldn’t say that, I realize. Then of course the reality is something else, the needs as well … ».
Congratulations on the objectivity. But from consumption you will have the perception if there is a return to pre-Covid levels.
“The certified data will arrive in a year. On the one hand, in the traditional stations of large companies, we are still at -1.36% in consumption between August 2021 and August 2019, while for white pumps, deposits and tanks we are at +3.5% in the same comparison. But these are numbers that must be weighed carefully: even today the use of public transport has not returned to that of the pre-pandemic period, and there is the effect of electric and hybrid motors that change consumption ».
The picture that emerges, however, outlines a stabilization at 2019 levels.
«The trend is the same, but we have to see if it consolidates, at least we are waiting for the end of the year. And in any case, the evolution of public mobility will have to be followed, if and when it will return to that of 2019 ».
