Suspected case of Dengue in Brescia, disinfestation tomorrow – Healthcare

A suspected case of Dengue fever has been reported in Brescia by the Ats (the territorial health company) and for this reason the Municipality has planned an anti-mosquito intervention for tomorrow in the area of the city around Via delle Tofane.

Dengue is a disease caused by a virus present mainly in tropical and subtropical countries which is transmitted through the bite of Aedes mosquitoes, not by direct transmission between humans.

The disinfestation treatment of insects and larvae will be carried out at 4 in public areas and from 6 in private areas if the owners are present within a radius of 200 meters from the home of the person suspected of having contracted the virus and therefore the Municipality invites allow those in charge to access private gardens and courtyards and asks anyone who found out about the treatment after 6am to call 328 0413153 by 9am on the same day to reschedule the operation.

“Everyone is asked for maximum collaboration so that the operations can be carried out safely and quickly”, explain the Municipality, recommending not to enter the treated areas until the end of the disinfestation, to keep doors and windows closed, not to let pets out and to suspend the operation of air exchange systems. Furniture and children’s toys that are left outside must be washed with common detergents, using washable or disposable gloves.

The vegetable gardens will not be involved in the disinfestation and it will be possible to use the internal/private courtyards five hours after treatment. Another invitation is not to leave containers where stagnant water can form, keep courtyards and outdoor areas clear of waste, brushwood and weeds, use mosquito repellents and try to cover yourself to avoid being bitten.
