International Youth Experience Traditional Chinese Dragon Dance in Chongqing
On March 11th, international youth from 13 countries had the opportunity to experience the traditional Chinese dragon dance in Longxing Ancient Town in Chongqing. The event, titled “Foreigners@Chongqing·International Youth Perception of Yubei,” was organized by the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee, the Propaganda Department of the Yubei District Committee, the Chongqing Luhai International Communication Charity Foundation, and the Western International Communication Center.
The international youth, hailing from countries such as France, Brazil, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia, joined local youth in Longxing Ancient Town to partake in the dragon-head-themed event. They had the opportunity to watch a dragon dance performance up close at Longyin Tower and even try their hand at practicing the dance themselves.
Following the dance experience, the international youth explored the ancient town to discover various dragon elements, such as streets named after dragons and dragon stone carvings. The immersive experience provided them with a glimpse into China’s rich traditional culture and the auspicious meaning behind the dragon raising its head.
The event was not only a cultural exchange opportunity for the international youth but also a chance to showcase the beauty of Chinese traditions and heritage. The participants were able to appreciate the intricate artistry and symbolism of the dragon dance, further strengthening the bonds between different cultures.
Overall, the “Foreigners@Chongqing·International Youth Perception of Yubei” event was a success, highlighting the importance of cultural exchange and mutual understanding among nations. The international youth left with a newfound appreciation for traditional Chinese culture and a memorable experience of participating in the iconic dragon dance.
