This Wednesday on the Platform program, lawyer Fátima Ortiz spoke about the human rights situation in the country and the main accusations against the emergency regime.

According to the lawyer, among the main allegations are: arbitrary detentions, forced disappearances, cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, in addition to violations of due criminal process, and not having a private defender.

“It is no longer a regime of exception, but rather a security policy of the Salvadoran State, there is talk of a Territorial Control Plan, but its main tool and on which the success of security is based, is the regime of exception,” express.

Ortiz explained that the prison population in El Salvador has increased to 104,000 people, where 73,000 are in provisional detention, awaiting their criminal proceedings to determine a sentence; success is based on conviction, not arrest.

The lawyer indicated that civil society organizations have documented 189 deaths within the prison system, within the framework of the Exception Regime and that, for his part, the Attorney General has declared that these cases have been archived by the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic. .
