The September 18 Movement disavows the recklessness of its eastern neighbor

The “September 18 Movement,” which was founded in the Netherlands in 2014, announced that it has no connection to the “office or representation of those demanding the independence of the countryside” that Algeria announced its creation, whether closely or indirectly.

The movement considered, in a statement published by Chaou on his personal Facebook account, that the problems currently suffering from the Rif “must be solved within the Moroccan framework,” stressing that “the step taken by the eastern neighbor, represented by what has become known in the media as the Rif Office, is reckless behavior.”

The movement explained that “those who are motivated by Algeria and supported financially and morally represent no one but themselves, and the movement has never coordinated with them, encouraged them, or pushed them to engage in the process of settling personal scores at the expense of the countryside.”

The movement stressed that it is “fully aware that the outstanding problems in the countryside must be solved within an internal framework, without ever needing foreign hands, which are only concerned with their own interests to confuse the positive proposals of the movement.”

The movement added in the same communiqué that it “listened to the voice of the Rifites when they raised the slogan of unity during the Rif Movement,” and its view “is consistent with the view of the Rif Movement activists when they condemned, in a loud voice, the attempts of the Algerian intelligence services to exploit tension in the Rif to achieve their goals.”
