Two Dead, Five Injured in Washington, D.C. Shooting
(CNN) — A shooting in Washington, D.C. early Sunday morning left two people dead and five others injured, according to police reports.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. near the intersection of 7th and P St., Northwest, close to the Kennedy Recreation Center, as indicated by the Metropolitan Police Department.
All victims were adults and were transported to local hospitals for treatment, said Metropolitan Police Executive Deputy Chief Jeffrey Carroll during a news conference. No updates on their conditions were provided.
The circumstances leading to the shooting and the identity of the shooter remain unknown. The incident took place less than a mile from the White House but the motive behind the violence is still unclear. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named in connection with the case.
“We ask anyone with information pertaining to this incident or who may have witnessed it to come forward and cooperate with the Metropolitan Police Department,” Carroll urged.
