Today’s focus: The downgrade of US military aircraft has far more impact than vaccines. The real reason why the CCP’s war wolf turned into a panda is not just adjusting its strategy, but a fundamental weakness in its decision-making mechanism.
The U.S. Global Overlord’s aircraft will kill three birds with one stone: breaking the CCP’s use of vaccines to isolate Taiwan; breaking through the CCP’s red line pressure test successfully; exposing the CCP’s weakness in Taiwan and its global strategy. The weakening of the diplomatic war wolf and the quietness of the little pink are not necessarily the adjustment stage of the new image project. 1) The first is to break the CCP’s isolation of Taiwan in terms of vaccine diplomacy. The CCP authorities have always claimed that Taiwan has access to Chinese vaccines. When Japan announced that it would provide Taiwan vaccines, Zhao Lijian also said that Taiwan’s vaccine independence would not succeed. The implication is that any country that provides vaccines to Taiwan is to support Taiwan’s independence. This is digging a hole for yourself.
Japan sent a special plane to deliver 1.24 million doses of vaccines. The United States announced 750,000 doses this time. This not only broke the CCP’s ban, but also defeated the CCP’s threat of “will not succeed”. Japan avoided the COVAX mechanism for direct supply. It is still unclear whether the United States directly or through the COVAX mechanism.

The significance of the large military aircraft landing
The difference between C40 and C17. The C40 is the military version of the Boeing 730-700C. It is a business jet. It is nicknamed the air office. The C17 is a large military transport aircraft that can transport tanks, armored vehicles and Black Hawk helicopters, although it can also be used as a business jet. It can be seen that the concept is different, and the symbolic meaning is also different.
The three U.S. senators visited Taiwan this time. I thought it was C17 that was loaded with 750,000 vaccines. The senators took the flight. Because the United States has this tradition, cabinet members such as ministers can take military or cargo planes along the way, but only later It was found that there was no vaccine on the plane, and the three were to announce the provision of vaccines, that is, the C17 special plane sent the senators to Taiwan. This has a completely different meaning.
This is the second point, breaking the red line. This red line is cited the most this time, and it is a Hu Xijin’s 2020 Global Times editorial by “Circle Time”, saying that if you get definitive evidence that US military aircraft will take off and land in Taiwan, you can destroy the relevant airport and US military aircraft. The Taiwan Strait War This started; in addition, the Communist Lieutenant General Wang Hongguang said that the U.S. military dared to go to Taiwan, and the People’s Liberation Army won Taiwan in three days. Actually, it was said in 2017 that the day when Taiwan deployed THAAD was the time when Taiwan was liberated. “Circle Time” publishes an article or speaks saying that Taiwan can be won in three days.
Strictly speaking, these two are not the red line of the CCP, because they do not formally represent the government, but their remarks are officially supported. It should be more official that Li Kexin, Minister of the Embassy in the United States, told the U.S. Congress that the day the U.S. warship arrived in Kaohsiung was when the People’s Liberation Army reunified Taiwan by force. Because of the CCP’s wolf-war diplomacy over the years, the government has become more and more tough. It always threatens not to touch the bottom line and the red line, and most people can’t figure out where the red line is. From any point of view, the downgrade of large US military planes should be the CCP’s red line. At least, the CCP hopes that the whole world will think so.
As a result, this time C17 took off and landed at Taiwan’s Songshan Airport, and there were two results. One is that the outside world generally believes that it broke the red line, including the people of mainland China and Taiwan; the other is that the CCP’s reaction was extremely calm, which was demonstrated at the press conference on Monday. Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin only said that he had lodged solemn representations with the US, but only said that US congressmen visited Taiwan, but did not mention large military aircraft. Compared with the past, the online Wolf Warrior and Little Pink are quite quiet. This is worth studying.
One argument is that Xi Jinping called for a change in Wolf Warrior’s diplomacy to create a credible, lovely and respectable image of China. Therefore, the Wolf Warriors are in the adjustment stage and do not know how to respond.
In fact, it is much more than that.
Ambiguous vs. clear strategy
We have previously talked about whether the US’s strategic vagueness on Taiwan Strait relations should be changed to a clear strategy. In fact, the CCP also has the same problem. In the past, there were ambiguities on both sides. In recent years, the CCP has continuously adopted offensive methods to erode the fuzzy area. Every area eroded, it clarifies a part. Perhaps the biggest benefit to the CCP is to compress Taiwan’s living space.
But it brings an unfavorable factor. Once the US and Taiwan counterattack at a certain point, the CCP will have no room for maneuver. For example, the global overlord machine this time is very clear and indeed breaks the red line. Netizens ridicule can draw another line. If you give up one and draw another, it is not a red line.
It is better not to draw a red line that cannot be held or is not intended to be held at all.
Diplomatic war wolf, artillery war wolf and military war wolf
Why diplomacy and cyber war wolf are so low-key this time is not necessarily a strategic adjustment. I think the most important thing is that this is no longer their field. Diplomacy and cyber war wolves are mainly fighting wars, just like ancient wars. At first, some non-combatants, such as the old, weak, sick and disabled, will be sent to the opponent to call the battle. After the opponent comes out, these people retreat and the main force comes on the field.
Since it is the red line, theoretically it should be the main force after the breakthrough, that is, it is the army’s turn to appear. This is the crux of the problem. People have broken through the red line. What can you tell the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Little Pink to say? Keep talking hard or soft? It is smart not to speak. The CCP obviously has no plan to use the military to solve the red line.
The United States does not have this problem. Military matters are resolved by the military. Internet public opinion and the media do not represent the US government, and there is no self-contradictory in government decision-making. And because of the CCP’s high degree of totalitarianism, the rhetoric of Hu Xijin and the combative literati generals are all regarded as the intentions of the CCP’s high-level officials. They usually indulge, and even show weakness when needed.
The CCP’s lack of a plan is its Achilles’ heel
It also reflects the weakness of the CCP’s decision-making system. The United States did not know how it made the decision this time, because there were three senators and the large military plane was downgraded for the first time. It was the result of coordinated decision-making by multiple departments. It must be said that it was a brilliant move.
However, the CCP obviously must be approved by the highest level and even Xi Jinping himself. Not only did it miss the opportunity to respond quickly, it also reflected that there was no corresponding plan.
For a CCP regime that has been provoking the United States, not having a plan is an Achilles’ heel.
The middle ground between the soldiers who surrendered without a fight and the full-scale invasion of Taiwan
The CCP’s strategy against Taiwan, the South China Sea, or the United States is to exert maximum pressure but avoid direct wars, that is, to defeat soldiers without fighting. However, when pressure is exerted, we should consider the rebound and the response after the rebound. Perhaps it has never encountered a substantial backlash in the process. It seems that the CCP has not prepared corresponding countermeasures. That is, the US warships, soldiers, and aircraft enter Taiwan. What other methods are there other than the invasion of Taiwan and a full-scale war?
After all, there is still a big middle ground between non-reaction and full fire, which can be gradually escalated, downgraded, or low-intensity controllable conflict.
This incident not only affects the US-China-Taiwan rivalry, but also affects the India-Taiwan strategy and the US-China global strategy. The United States has tested it and the CCP has failed in its answers so far.
