Photo: Sport.cz What was the match like for you, on the ice of one of the main favorites for the title?

Terribly demanding mentally and physically. Especially in overtime. Iā€™m glad we managed him. For me, it was the biggest match in my career so far.

Are you enjoying the current period?

Very much. I didnā€™t expect to be catching in the extra league so soon. I am grateful to the coaches for their trust. Of course Iā€™m happy about it, but Iā€™m not making any science out of it. Itā€™s no big deal again. I wish it would continue like this and Kometa fulfilled its traditionally high ambitions this season.

Are you surprised that you have a save percentage of 92.1, which is only slightly lower than in juniors?

It makes me glad. Sometimes I look at these statistics, but I donā€™t follow them in any particular detail.

Did you have to contribute to the team coffers for your first win in an elite competition?

I didnā€™t avoid it. The boys saved me, but even so, the amount hurt me a little. (smile).

Many of your teammates in Komet are significantly older than you. How did you fit into the cabin?

I started preparing with A before this season. At first I entered the dressing room with a bit of respect, but everything is fine. We support each other.

Did your older teammates appreciate your performance in Pardubice?

I got a lot of praise from them. And a work helmet as a gift.

Is the transition from junior to adult hockey very difficult?

Itā€™s a significant difference. For example, in the speed and impact of shots. Itā€™s even harder to read the game. But gradually Iā€™m getting used to it more and more.

There is also a significant difference in the atmosphere of the match, right?

Of course. In Brno, there is a wonderful backdrop for extra league matches. However, I must admit that during the match I concentrate so much on the game that I donā€™t notice the atmosphere that much.

What is it like to work alongside Dominik Furch, who has already achieved a lot in his goalkeeping career?

Great. I am gathering valuable experience alongside him. I try to learn as much as possible from him. We talk about matches together. Even before Pardubice, I got some advice from him. I am very happy that we are in the same team. We, including Å těpĆ”n LukeÅ”, have excellent relations between us. We support each other.

So are you satisfied in Komet?

Clearly. I work a lot with goalkeeper coach Jan Å vaÅ™ĆÄek. No one has ever cared for me like this before.

And are you ready for the fact that with the imminent return of the recovering Dominik Furch in goal, everything will probably return to its original tracks?

Clearly. I expect that then I will start again mainly for the junior team. I will do my best to finish as high as possible with him in the extra league.

Is it your goal to capture overseas in the future?

Itā€™s no secret that I would very much like to work in the NHL one day. Itā€™s my childhood dream. I try to work hard to fill it.

Do you regularly watch the NHL on TV?

I donā€™t watch games at night. The next day, however, I always let my haircuts go. I mainly follow Czech goalkeepers. Above all, Karel Vejmelka and LukĆ”Å” DostĆ”l, who also went through the Comet.

Do you know them?

Karel Vejmelka and I trained together during the covid period. Itā€™s unbelievable how he flew into the NHL and immediately started catching. I wish him the best.

Do you have or have you had a goalkeeper role model in the past?

Yes. He was Carey Price. I used to root for Montreal because of him.

Last year you competed in the under-18 world championship, where your partner in the Czech team was Michael Hrabal, who now won bronze at the championship in Sweden at the age of twentyā€¦

I saw some matches and I have to praise the guys. Especially in the match for third place against Finland, they showed character. HrƔba performed solidly, he has nothing to be ashamed of.

Are you tempted to win a nomination for the next Under-20 World Cup?

Itā€™s a huge motivation for me. I will do my best for it.

While playing hockey, you are studying distance sports management at the secondary school in Litoměřice. How do you manage to put it together?

Iā€™m in my third year and so far everything is working as it should. I work out the assignments given by the teachers at home and send them to them. Hockey is a priority for me, but I realize that having a high school diploma is also very important.

So you personally donā€™t need to visit the school very often?

I only go there once every six months to review all subjects.
