In every kitchen above the hob there is a system for absorbing vapors and fumes. When we put a pot on the stove to prevent the smell from spreading throughout the house, the extractor hood turns on, absorbing the fumes and bringing them outwards. But not everyone does this and sometimes the window in the kitchen opens a bit so that the steam can escape naturally.
However, most of the steam rises vertically and meets the hood. Both on and off, most of the steam and substances released by cooking end up on the filter. The combustion products of the hob flame also stick to the filter.
A dangerous hood
The hood left there without proper cleaning of the filters becomes dangerous for several reasons. First of all, bad smells spread in the kitchen because the filters are saturated and no longer absorb.
The grease that accumulates on the filter can attract the cooking flame and it is possible for it to catch fire.
Fat particles detach from the filter and carry with them tiny filaments of the filter itself, which end up in the dishes being cooked.
It is also possible for insects to nestle between the grease layers of the filter.
For an efficient and clean extractor hood just follow the advice of the technicians to replace the grease filter every two months.
