The Crisis Unit of the Farnesina writes this to a company that organized a trip to Greece, with departure on 23 July, of 400 Italian children. In the letter – according to what has been learned – the organizers are invited to inform “the families of the children” of the risks and “possible additional costs” associated with these trips.
“Starting from the first decade of July, as you will certainly know, there have been cases of compatriots who tested positive for the Covid-19 test all over the world, with consequent isolation, at local facilities, of both positive subjects and contacts of the latter, based on the provisions of local regulations ”, writes the Crisis Unit to the organizers of the trip after having become aware of the initiative from the Italian Embassy in Athens.
“This phenomenon is affecting, in particular, young people who, moving together in large numbers, are inevitably more exposed to the health risk deriving from coexistence and sharing that are the prerequisite for this type of travel”. According to the information provided by the Embassy in Athens, for Greek legislation, “where it is impossible, due to temporary unavailability of the facilities, the transfer of the interested party to a Covid-hotel, the costs of staying in Greece for the period of isolation would be at the expense of the traveler, as well as those of the test “at the end of the quarantine, he still remembers, underlining that” in this scenario, the margins of intervention of the diplomatic network are minimal “.
