The Lunar New Year holiday is coming to an end and many migrant workers are returning to work. Sichuan has launched its first migrant worker train of the year, departing from mountainous areas to the Bay Area. The K4231 train, carrying over 1,400 people, departed from Dazhou Station in Sichuan and is expected to arrive at Guangzhou Station in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area around 8:30 a.m. on the 15th.

At 2 a.m., more than 1,400 migrant workers gathered at Dazhou Railway Station to embark on their journey. To make the process easier, the railway station opened a special waiting hall and arranged more than 20 volunteers to guide the workers. Additionally, the Dazhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau has coordinated with transportation and railway departments to provide convenient services for the traveling migrant workers.

Zhou Ge, Director of the Dazhou Migrant Workers Service Center, expressed that they have prepared gift packages for the migrant workers, including items like instant noodles, mineral water, and paper towels to make their travel experience easier.

It is estimated that 300,000 migrant workers will take trains out of the Qinba Mountains this year, with the majority destined for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Hangzhou Bay Greater Bay Area. To facilitate their return, Dazhou Railway Station will operate 13 additional migrant trains to Guangzhou from February 14 to March 5, benefiting more than 20,000 migrant workers.

Meanwhile, Pudong Airport in Shanghai welcomed the first batch of “point-to-point” migrant workers arriving from Nujiang and Honghe in Yunnan. These workers had participated in a local job fair jointly organized by Shanghai and Yunnan before the Spring Festival and had confirmed their employment positions. Shanghai’s human resources and social security departments have been actively coordinating transportation services to facilitate the return of migrant workers.

The Secretary and Director of the Party Leadership Group of the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Yang Jiaying, stated that they will also provide training on relevant vocational skills to help the workers improve their employment abilities.

Overall, both Sichuan and Shanghai are making efforts to ensure a smooth transition for migrant workers returning to work after the holiday season.
