The hearing team presented a report to the House of Representatives that included hundreds of documents on corruption in the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Sana’a, and the corruption practiced by Minister Muhammad Sharaf Al-Mutahhar. The report included the blackmail that merchants are exposed to, the cancellation of trademarks registered for decades, and the delivery of some of them to smugglers in violation of the applicable laws.
The House of Representatives formed a parliamentary committee to discuss what was contained in the report and listen to the responses of the Minister of Industry and Trade, but it adjourned its sessions before the investigation into what was proposed was completed.
During the last two years, dozens of merchants left the country for neighboring countries, most notably Saudi Arabia, which caused the country to lose billions of dollars in national capital, due to restrictions on them and the practice of a policy of persecution by the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
