The Italian Cinema Festival returns to New Zealand, the film festival focusing on contemporary Italian films throughout New Zealand. Cinema Italiano Festival, wanted and created by passionate cinephiles Paolo Rotondo and Renee Mark, reaches its eighth edition. What at the beginning was a limited festival with screenings concentrated in a single city, has become in a few years a festival that covers the entire national territory. From Auckland to Wellington, from Christchurch to Whatakane, from Tauranga to Takapuna and then Nelson, Napier, Palmerston, Dunedin, Blenheim, lovers of Italian cinema in Aotearoa will be able to benefit from a current vision of Italian society. Unlike many of the film festivals organized globally, which generally last a few days, the peculiar characteristic of this festival is that the screenings take place over a period of seven months, in 20 different cinemas on rotation. This makes the “Cinema Italiano Festival” product accessible to a large number of spectators. The 2024 calendar sees over 1,000 screenings over the 7-month duration of the festival from 29 April 2024 to 19 January 2025
