Xinhua News Agency, Beijing – The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China convened a meeting on March 29 to review the “Comprehensive Report on the Second Round of Inspections of the 20th Central Committee.” General Secretary Xi Jinping presided over the meeting, emphasizing the importance the Party Central Committee places on inspection work.

Since the 20th National Congress of the Party, two rounds of central inspections have been deployed to complete full coverage of centrally managed enterprises. The meeting acknowledged the progress made in strengthening party building within these enterprises and relevant functional departments, as well as the achievements in comprehensive and strict party governance. However, it also highlighted the existence of some persistent problems that require serious attention and resolution.

The meeting called for a proactive approach to addressing these issues through inspection and rectification, in order to promote high-quality development and comprehensive and strict party governance. Key strategies include consolidating organizational leadership, establishing accountability mechanisms, and maintaining strict supervision over rectification efforts.

State-owned enterprises were specifically underscored as a crucial foundation for socialism with Chinese characteristics. The Party must uphold and strengthen its leadership within these enterprises, strictly adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and ensure the achievement of the “two safeguards.” This requires a balance between development and security, with a heightened awareness of potential risks and a commitment to preventing corruption.

The meeting also emphasized the need to implement the party’s organizational line in the new era, improve leadership and cadre teams, and address common problems uncovered during inspections. By deepening the comprehensive and strict governance of the party, the aim is to tackle both immediate challenges and root causes of issues.
