The emergency response to low-temperature rain, snow, and freezing disasters in Hubei and Anhui provinces has been upgraded to Level III, with 40,000 pieces of central disaster relief materials urgently allocated.

Since January 31, widespread rain, snow, and freezing weather have continued to occur in the central and eastern regions. The Central Meteorological Observatory has issued an orange blizzard warning and frozen orange warning for the area. In response to the high risk of low-temperature rain and snow freezing disasters, the Ministry of Emergency Management has upgraded the Level IV emergency response to Level III in Hubei and Anhui Provinces. This requires close attention to weather changes, organizational leadership and overall coordination, as well as strengthening of emergency rescue forces and disaster relief efforts. The goal is to prevent casualties and major property losses.

The Office of the National Disaster Prevention, Reduction, and Relief Committee and the Ministry of Emergency Management, together with the State Administration of Grain and Material Reserves, have allocated a total of 40,000 pieces of central disaster relief materials such as cotton coats and quilts to Hubei and Anhui provinces to support local disaster relief and rescue work.

Additional working groups have been dispatched to the front line to assist and provide guidance. Heavy to heavy snowfall is expected in parts of southern Henan, southwestern and central-eastern Hubei, central and northern Anhui, western Jiangsu, northern Hunan, eastern Chongqing, and northern Guizhou, with persistent freezing rain in parts of Hubei, central Anhui, and other places.

The emergency response and allocation of relief materials demonstrate the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges posed by the extreme weather conditions and providing assistance to those affected. The focus remains on preventing further damage and ensuring the safety and well-being of the local population.
